Building Fires

He lifted his hat to “how-do-you-do”, blew a kiss, dropped a honeyed sweet heart. She, through the light and the gloom, with all her gilded glamours, and all her heartstrings of silver, searched for fire.

He blew his hurricane, and gave her captivating sorrows, words , that caught flame and burned. Burned and lost in laughter for ever and again.

He, the devil that may care… She, a sudden abandon… Both building fires across the night, and over the winds that blew when they knew of nothing else so wild and happy and sad.
